Bryan Murray Day
Died 11/28/2011

" To The Editor,
Just JazzBryan M Day

Just learnt today of the death of Bryan Day, beloved bass player with the Toronto-based Hot Five Jazzmakers.

Bryan was just 59 years old and died of cancer, after being hospitalised at Juravinski Cancer Centre, Hamilton, for less than three months. Last June Bryan came to Europe with us and we performed at the Kirkudbright jazz Festival in Scotland and the Silkeborg jazz festival in Denmark.

Bryan also played overseas with us at the Whitley Bay festival and the Maribo festival in Denmark in 2009.

His sudden passing has left us and his many other musician friends and fans devastated. Bryan was one of those easy-going and friendly people that everyone likes to have around. We will especially miss his beautiful singing voice - he had a real way with the spiritual and gospel songs that we have in our repertoire.

Bryan was a regular with the Sensation Jazz Band in Kitchener for many years, prior to its dissolution.

Regards,
Brian Towers,
Hot Five Jazzmakers, Toronto "
